Rye’s Shannon O’Connor, a junior at School of the Holy Child, has been named one of 84 high school basketball players to participate in the annual East-West New England Prep School Athletic Conference (NEPSAC) All-Star Game. She is Holy Child’s first varsity basketball player to receive this honor.

Wildcats Fulfill Hoop Dreams in NY State Invitational Win: The Rye Country Day boys’ basketball team put an exclamation point on the end of a phenomenal season last Sunday, earning their second NYSAIS Class C title in three years, with a 59-51 win over the Packer Collegiate Pelicans at Fieldston.

Although undermanned, the Garnets finished the regular season on a high note at home February 2 against Hastings, winning every match but one. The camaraderie the team enjoyed despite a less-than-ideal season-long situation that equated to many forfeits was all the more evident, with senior captains Joe Simolacaj, Ben Breitel, and Jeff Dempsey leading the way.

The Rye boys’ swimming and diving team ended their regular season competition in a meet against Mamaroneck January 31. Although it was close – each Garnet swam to a personal best, showing great improvement from earlier meets – Mamaroneck had more depth and secured the victory. Rye finished the season with a 3-5 record.
