Garnets Focused on Capturing 12th Straight League Title

Eleven consecutive league titles don’t just happen by chance. It takes hard work, dedicated players and a committed head coach. Fortunately for Rye, all of those factors are in play as they attempt to make it 12 in a row.

Winning Tradition Never Graduates

It’s a cliché that has been uttered countless times in the wide world of sports: “We want to take it one game at time.” So, why is it that when the defending State Champion Wildcats talk of “winning every single game” and “dominating each possession”, one can’t help but believe they’re being 100 percent honest as opposed to going through the media motions?

Garnets Have Lost Some Close Ones
Considering the 15-14 loss to Scarsdale May 3, at home, was the Garnets’ fourth one-goal loss in their last eight games, the team’s 3-7-2 record is a bit deceiving. In all, Rye has only been outscored 150-140 this season, and has posted a respectable 3-4-2 record in league play.

Wildcats Won’t Settle For Anything Less Than a Championship

With four shutouts in their last six games, everything appears to be coming together for the 13-2 Wildcats. Rye Country Day avenged one of their only two losses Friday, May 2, with a 6-0 win against Hamden Hall. Senior Will Baine followed up his no-hitter April 22 against St. Luke’s by allowing just two hits against Hamden Hall. It was the Wildcats’ ninth win in their last ten games.

In Loss, Garnets Prove They Can Play With Elite
In a game featuring a pair of teams that had won a combined 19 of their previous 20 games, the cold and blustery elements proved to be a factor in Pelham’s 5-3 win against the Garnets, May 2, in Rye.

Wildcats Captains Serve Up Double Bagels to Brunswick
Senior captains Stephen Vogl and Gregg Cohenca led the Wildcats to a 6-1 victory over rival Brunswick at home April 29, each dispatching their opponents in No. 1 and 2 singles with 6-0, 6-0, scores. “Winning a match 6-1 is always good, but winning by that score against Brunswick makes it that much sweeter,” said Vogl.
RHS vs. RCDS Boys’ Lacrosse – Sizzling Garnets Hoist Mayor’s Cup With Win Over Wildcats

The streaking Garnets were too hot to handle for Rye Country Day May 2, at Nugent Stadium in the annual battle for the Mayor’s Cup, as Rye High won their ninth consecutive game with a 12-5 victory against the cross-town Wildcats.
Feeley’s Dominance Earns Him Lions Club Nod
If asked to sum up Ryan Feeley’s swimming career at Rye in one word, “prolific” might just do the trick.
Feeley was named Lions Club Athlete of the Month for March after winning the State Title in the 500-meter freestyle.
Tackling Bear Mountain
Rye resident Scott Prosser finished eighth at the North Face Endurance Challenge at Bear Mountain April 12, a grueling 50-mile run on a course considered to be one of the country’s most demanding. Prosser’s time of 11:22:56 was third-best of males in the 30-39 age group.

Garnets Drop a Pair of Games to Section Powers
Heading into May 1’s game against 9-3 Sleepy Hollow at home, the Garnets were rested, relaxed, and ready to build upon their 6-0 record. Unfortunately, Rye fell behind early and eventually lost 3-2 to the Horsemen.
