2/15: Bird Lane resident turned in Daisy BB rifle. Tagged and placed in drawer.
2/16: Runaway from Rye hospital: diabetic juvenile last seen wearing jeans, purple sweater and boots. Teletype sent out. 24 hours later, teenager located at family member’s residence in Pennsylvania. Teletype cancelled.
2/16: Mamaroneck man reported wallet stolen while working out at YMCA. Credit card company notified.
2/17: License plate found in Westchester Medical Group parking lot. NYSPIN showed registration already replaced.
2/17: Hunter Lane woman reported attempted on-line purchase from Next Day Watches using her credit card number. Statement taken.
2/18: Davis Avenue resident reported parked car blocking driveway, making him late for work. Responding officers found door to apartment of vehicle’s owner wide open. Female who came to door stated owner was not home, and, “It’s not my car.” Vehicle towed. Later re-check of apartment showed door still open, female gone, nothing unusual found. Owner called police HQ 90 minutes later to claim vehicle.
2/19: Queens man with “mole on left cheek” picked wrong day to make illegal U-turn at Purchase Street and Elm Place. Computer check revealed suspended license and registration, improper plates and no insurance. Four for four! Arrested, made $150 bail.
2/20: United Nations ID found in front of Citibank. Placed in evidence locker #6.
2/20: Rye resident told officer estranged common-law husband followed her to dance class in Ossining and out to car, publicly insulting and threatening her, despite valid order of protection. Picking up daughter back in Rye, man continued threats outside home in front of neighbors. Offender had been previously arrested for violating protection order. Charged with disorderly conduct.
2/24: Rye Free Reading Room librarian reported theft of entire set of encyclopedias sometime during previous week. Offender has obviously never heard of Wikipedia.
2/24: Two calls from Cedar Place residence of divorcing couple. Wife wished to take medical device for daughter and utility bill. Refused to leave. Parties advised to contact attorneys regarding shared property. Next day, argument over furniture resulted in wife slapping husband upside the head. Domestic Incident report filed. Wife agreed to leave and not return.
2/25: Rye High School female student reported continuing verbal abuse by known person, as well as being restrained and shaken by offender until he was pulled off. Victim stated he jumped on her car, causing damage, as well as making erroneous report of her carrying knife. Stated she does not, and that no knife was found in school search. Youth detective notified.
2/27: At 2 a.m., red GMC pickup signaled right turn for two blocks on Purchase Street, then turned signal off and made subsequent right on Locust Avenue. Stamford driver emitted strong smell of alcohol on breath, caused by “one beer.” Field sobriety test administered: instead of heel-to-toe walk in straight line, offender simply walked forward and came back, unsteadily. In one-leg stand test, put his foot down on “two”. Blood alcohol tested positive at .011%. Because 3-year-old son was riding in vehicle, driver also charged with Endangering Welfare of Minor.
2/28: OnStar reported airbag deployment in two-car MVA on Boston Post Road. Port Chester driver of gray Chevy van seemed inebriated. Stated he’d had two beers, but was not at fault. Could not hold foot off ground for any length of time in one-leg stand.
Unlicensed, with previous DUI conviction and aggravated (over .18%) blood alcohol. Legal trouble ahead.
3/1: Sanford Street resident reported losing Malaysian passport sometime in December. Had already notified consulate.
3/2: When kitchen countertop installers (one 5’ 6” and Hispanic, one 6’ 0” and Caucasian) arrived, Stuyvesant Avenue homeowner left to drop off children at school. Upon her return, men finished delivery and left. Six days later, she discovered several items of jewelry missing: diamond tennis bracelet and hoop earrings, ruby & diamond earrings, Tiffany diamond & sapphire earrings, diamond pendant necklace and sapphire necklace.
Subsequently, resident reported theft was false alarm: missing jewelry found. So, countertop installers wearing ruby & diamond earrings should be disregarded.
3/2: Water’s Edge resident reported identity theft: Sears account opened in his name in Rochester, N.Y. Car 11 assigned.
3/2: Port Chester driver of white Ford van observed talking on cell phone heading south on Boston Post Road near Smith Street. NYSPIN check showed license suspended 12 different times, with valid warrant from City of Rye. Van impounded, driver arrested.
