Take part in a town tradition and head downtown to hear The Westchester Pops at Rye Recreation's Annual Outdoor Concert Sunday, June 29, 6 p.m. on the Village Green. Conductor Joseph Greco will lead a memorable family musical program. The event is free. The rain location is the Rye High School Performing Arts Center.
Internationally renowned trombonist Papo Vazquez and his Pirate Troubadours bring their unique fusion of Afro-Caribbean rhythms and free jazz compositions to the Rye Town Park Pavilion Tuesday, July 1. This is the first of the Susan Di Pace Summer Concert Series presented by The Friends of Rye Town Park.
On July 15, rock the night away with The Dragon Coasters, who will play music from the ’70s to the present. As per tradition, The Derivatives will close out the season August 5.
All concerts are at 7:30 p.m., rain or shine. This is the 11th year the Friends have brought free concerts to the park.
Playland presents the Battle of the Bands, featuring six of the best young bands in the metro area, Tuesday, July 15, 7 to 10 p.m. The rain date is July 17. Admission is free, parking is $5.
Parking Lots: Works on Paper, an exhibit of landscapes by artist Kirsten Nash, will be on display at the Rye Free Reading Room Gallery from July 1 through August 30. The works explore the dialogue between image and abstraction while evoking metaphors of emptiness and impermanence.
The first of The Osborn's Centennial Summer Lawn Concerts will be held July 8. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and listen to the sounds of Georgann & Lou “Deuces Wild”. Next up in the free Tuesday evening concerts is The Jumpstart Big Band July 15, followed by Linwood Peel, formerly of the Drifters July 22, and more.
All concerts begin at 7 p.m. The series ends August 19. Lemonade and cookies will be served.
Every Thursday night is music night at the Town Dock Tavern. Enjoy the acoustic songs of Rye’s own Gary Adamson from 8-11 p.m. For further information, call 967-2497.
