The following summarizes reports filed at Rye Police headquarters 10/24 to 11/2. The information does not include final court or other actions.

10/24: While on patrol in the area of Purchase Street and Elm Place, officer was advised that a male wearing an NYPD hat, dark jacket and khaki pants was yelling obscenities and entered HSBC Bank. Officer proceeded to the bank and found a party matching description. Once he exited the bank, officer stopped him for a quick interview. The suspect identified himself as a resident of Woodbourne, N.Y., who was just released from county jail. He said he had received his bail money back and his loud speech was caused by his excitement about making the deposit. Party was checked for warrants with a negative result. He then walked to the train station and headed back to a clinic in CT for his methadone dosage.

10/24: Caller reported that her vehicle’s tire and rim were damaged due to a large pothole on Purchase Street. DPW Foreman Casterella and Con Edison were notified.

10/25: Unknown offender was seen by housekeeper trying to enter a Forest Avenue residence. Offender was identified as a blonde wearing a blue jersey with knife in hand. She was last seen getting into a 4-door vehicle with a male driver.

10/25: Party reported receiving a threatening phone call from his tenant. Stated that his tenant from a Dobbs Ferry locale said that he would shoot anyone who tried to enter his apartment again. The incident stemmed from the building owner allowing an exterminator into his tenant’s apartment. The tenant was advised of this visit and voiced no concerns at that time.

10/25: Complainant reported that he purchased a jet ski via eBay. The payment was made through Pay Pal, but the equipment was not delivered.

10/26: Officer responded to a worker falling off the roof at a Forest Avenue residence. Upon arrival, the victim was conscious and alert.  He stated that he fell off of a 15-foot roof. One of his co-workers, who stated that he was an EMT, had placed a collar on him and bandaged his lacerations. The victim also complained of pain in his right wrist.

10/28: Was it something I said? Victim reported that she made a left turn from Theodore Fremd Avenue onto Hammond Road and the road was blocked by another vehicle in that lane. She beeped her horn to get the other driver to move off the roadway. It was at that time a party known to her approached the vehicle and became verbally abusive. She stated that he pushed in her side mirror and struck the driver side door. No damage was noticed.

10/30: While on routine patrol, officer was advised of two vehicles left unattended in the middle of Parkway Drive, with the subjects possibly in the woods on the side of Playland Parkway. Officer observed two males running across Playland Parkway and into the wooded area approaching Boston Post Road. Officer checked both parties and found one to be in possession of a forged document. Suspect had ID stating that he was 21 and lived in Connecticut, while in actuality he is 19 and lives in Rye.

10/31: Complainant reported that the driver of a grey colored vehicle threw a suspicious package out the window of their car.

10/31: Caller reported odor of marijuana in her building at Walnut Street. Officers arrived on the scene and knocked on the door of apparent offender. Homeowner’s boyfriend opened the door, and in plain sight of the responding officers were a large marijuana bong and clear glass jar containing marijuana. Boyfriend identified himself and claimed that the items were his. He was read his Miranda rights and placed under arrest for unlawful possession of marijuana and criminal possession of a controlled substance. One gram of marijuana and 12 Marinall pills were confiscated.

11/1: Offender started cursing at football coach while using obscene language on Hornidge Road. Offender then went out to the coach and ran at him in an aggressive manner. A student had to restrain offender from attacking the football coach. Complainant wished to press charges and pursue an order of protection. Offender whistled for 5-yard encroachment penalty.

11/2: Hunter Lane resident called at 9:30 a.m. to report that his wife had left the home at approximately 8:30 a.m. and had not returned. Complainant called back later to say his wife returned home at around 4:20 p.m.

11/2: Complainant came into HQ to report an incident with his son. Victim stated that on Nov. 1, he had a verbal argument with his son that turned physical. He stated that his son began threatening him and pushing him around. Complainant had no visible physical injury, therefore no photos were taken.

Students and parents at Midland School just love George O'Conner who has faithfully helped students cross safely in all kinds of weather. O'Conner, who has been at Midland for four years, is a retired police officer who served on the Harrison/ White Plains force.
