Holy Child/RCDS Girls Soccer
Wildcats Roll Over Gryphons in First-Round Encounter

Unlike Holy Child and Rye Country Day School’s clash for the State Championship in field hockey, the soccer meeting between these two schools on Nov. 6 was a different story.  The winner of the first round of the New York State Association of Independent Schools Athletic Association tournament was decided long before the final seconds.

The No. 3 seeded Wildcats took it to the No. 6 Gryphons all day long with a dominating 7-0 victory. Keri Iheagwara collected a hat trick for Rye Country Day, and Kelly Lengsfield also added a couple of goals.

For the most part, it was an all out assault on Holy Child goalkeeper Molly Schauber. Despite giving up the seven goals, Schauber made 17 saves, which give you an idea just what a barrage of shots she faced.

Aimee Weber made four saves for the Wildcats, barely breaking a sweat in the resounding victory. With the win, they improved their record to 11-5.
