Holy Child Gets "Fired Up"
Next month, School of the Holy Child will display the work of Lynn Ainsworth as part of “All Fired Up! A Celebration of Clay in Westchester”, a consortium project led by the Westchester Arts Council, the Clay Arts Center and a steering committee of eight cultural institutions.
Holy Child is one of the few participating schools, but a number of Rye institutions, including The Rye Historical Society, The Rye Arts Center and Rye Town Park, are holding related exhibits.
Ann Fabrizio, Director of Development for the Westchester Arts Council and a Holy Child alum, noted, "I am so pleased to see two of my favorite organizations — Holy Child and the Westchester Arts Council — working together on this wonderful project."
The project encompasses a series of eye-catching exhibits and events throughout Westchester. The goal is to illuminate the endless ways clay can be transformed to make art.
Ainsworth was a visiting artist for Holy Child's Creative Perspectives Program, and is glad that her work will be shown there. Her current pieces reflect her interest in abstracting the female figure. She noted, “My love of texture, patterns and color is deeply ingrained in my work." Ainsworth's work will be on display through October.
