Thanks for the Memories

At summer’s end, it’s hard to let go. You can’t help but lament the loss of early sunrises and late sunsets. And everything that summer hours signify — grabbing a book after work and heading down to the beach to read, all the barbecuing you leave to your spouse, more time on the tennis court, and occasions for reflection in your backyard. It was so much quieter without those leaf blowers.
Can fall possibly live up to the glorious days we’ve had since mid-August? It’s anybody’s guess, so it’s best to enjoy what’s still blooming and delighting us.
Every time I’m stuck at the corner of Milton Road and Oakland Beach Avenue, I thank heaven for the entry garden at La Panetiere. It invites you upward.
If you’re driving up Oakland Beach at school drop-off or pick-up time, be prepared to miss at least one light. Rather than fuming, gaze right at the colorful sidewalk display provided by the homeowners of the stately home whose front entrance is on the side.
The five-corner intersection at Midland Avenue and Grace Church Street was never a thing of beauty until the addition of tall, graceful flower displays at the corners.
