Morsels on Rye

Reggae for POTS

On January 6, 1982, three people gathered in a small storefront at the western end of Fordham Road in the Bronx. It was the first day of Part Of The Solution (POTS), and Tim Boon, Sister Jane Iannucelli, Sister of Charity and Father Ned Murphy, Society of Jesus, started the day making soup. 26 years later, there are over 170 emergency food providers in the Bronx alone.
POTS’ mission, to be “a loving community that nourishes the basic needs and hungers of all who come to our door,” is strongly supported by Resurrection Church, which has a special relationship with Our Lady of Refuge parish in the Bronx. So it was no surprise that area residents were strongly represented among the sell-out throng for the “Reggae for POTS” fundraiser held Thursday night, September 18, in Rye.
