If you love to dance, you'll love the Zumba classes at Rye Recreation. "They're the quickest way to learn all the dance moves—Latin, salsa, tango, flamenco and more,” said teacher Jill Doornick. "We do them all in one-hour classes and work off a pound in the process!” Zumba classes are offered Tuesday and Thursday from 7:45 to 8:45 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. Each session is $15 per person, $20 per couple.
Rye seniors are invited to tea at the Damiano Recreation Center, the first Monday of each month, beginning October 6 and running through December. Sip tea and enjoy refreshments and great conversation. Pre-registration is necessary. Call 967-2535.
Mayor Otis, along with representatives from local non-profits like the Rye Nature Center, the Historical Society and the YMCA, will speak about what makes Rye great at a coffee hosted by the Rye Newcomers Club, Tuesday, October 7, from 9:15 to 11 a.m. at the Rye library. Also to be discussed, ways to give back to the community through volunteer work. Coffee, tea, and light fare will be served. Contact Dee O'Brien at deeob@optonline.net with questions.
