Parkinson’s Support Group

Free weekly education, support therapy, exercise, social activities and caregiver support sessions for people with Parkinson’s and their loved ones. Unless noted, meetings are Tuesdays from 1:30-3 p.m. at the Greenwich Civic Center in Old Greenwich. For information, call 203-863-4444.

AARP Safe Driving Course Parts I & II

This two-part course teaches participants about current rules of the road, how to safely operate a vehicle in today’s challenging driving environment, and ways to adjust to common age-related changes in vision, hearing, and reaction time. Part I meets Saturday, June 13, from 9 a.m.–1 p.m. at Greenwich Hospital. Also given Wednesday, June 17 from 1–5 p.m. Part II for Saturday session will be held at the same time and place on June 20. Part II of Wednesday session is 1-5 p.m. Friday, June 19. To register, call 203- 863-4277. Fee: $10.

Stroke Support Group

This free, monthly program offers patients and caregivers a supportive environment in which they can learn more about the condition and how to move forward after it occurs. Meets Tuesday, June 16, from noon–1 p.m. in the Belle Haven Conference Center at the hospital. To register, call 203-863-3792.

When a Parent Has Cancer

On Monday, June 22, Greenwich Hospital and Cancer Care of Connecticut will co-host a special evening for families affected by a parent with cancer. Starting at 6 p.m. in the hospital’s Noble Conference Center, this free two-hour event will feature a pizza dinner followed by activities for younger family members, while parents and family caregivers have the opportunity to meet with oncology counselors about important issues in a supportive setting.

Family Night requires a minimum participation of four families, so interested families are encouraged to sign up soon. Call 203-863-3704.

Multiple Sclerosis Lecture

Neurologist Fred D. Lublin, Director of Mount Sinai Hospital’s Dickinson Center for Multiple Sclerosis, will provide an update on current and future research related to treating MS Thursday, June 18, from 6:30–8 p.m. in the hospital’s Noble Conference Center.
