One Step Closer to a Cure
At the 23rd annual Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Westchester County Chapter gala, Rye played a big part. Rye resident Vicki McHugh co-chaired the May 16 event at Trump National Golf Club. The honorees were Bob and Lee Woodruff. The theme of the gala was “In an Instant”, which, according to McHugh, is how quickly your life changes when your child receives a diagnosis of diabetes. Her 14-year-old daughter Kristin has juvenile diabetes.
TV personality Otis Livingston was the master of ceremonies for the second year. Rye High School history teacher Judd Rothstein filled in towards the end of the evening when Otis had to leave to do the news.
“Dancing Under the Stars” raised over $500,000 for juvenile diabetes research.
