Graham Clarke’s popular Rye Y children’s concert series is back this summer on Tuesdays from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. on the Wainwright House lawn. Seven afternoons filled with music, dancing and singing are on the bill. The series runs from June 26 to Aug. 14 and is recommended for ages up to 6. The fee is $150 for members, $175 non-members. In June, between the end of school and the beginning of summer camp, the Rye Y will offer several opportunities for children to develop their sports skills and stay active.Youth Roller Hockey Clinic and Football Clinic, for ages 9 to 11, run from June 18 to 22, 4 to 6 p.m. at Midland School.
T-Ball clinics tailored to three different age ranges will be offered. A clinic for ages 3 to 5 meets June 19 through 22, noon to 1 p.m. at the Rye Y; ages 4 to 6 meet June 18 through 22, 4 to 6 p.m. and ages 6 to 8 meet June 11 through 15, 4 to 6 p.m. at Midland School.
The sports clinics are $120 for family members, $130 youth members and $170 non-members. Registration is ongoing, either online or at the Member Services Desk.
The Y is also offering swim classes from July 2 to July 28.
Evaluations are held Mondays from 12 to 12:45 p.m. and Wednesdays from 5 to 5:45 p.m. You can also call 967-6363, ext. 107, for an appointment.
The Rye Free Reading Room invites children to join the 2007 New York State Summer Reading Program, Get a Clue @ your library. Participants will keep track of books you read or listen to, earn prizes, play games and attend story times all summer long.
To kick off the summer reading program, the Tales ‘n Tunes musical storytelling duo presents Super Sleuth Solves It at the library Saturday, June 23, 2 p.m.
Join the library and entertainer Ellen Watermelon for a morning of music and a Teddy Bear Parade around the Village Green Saturday, June 9, 10 to 11:30 a.m. Meet a costumed teddy bear, enjoy treats and learn the new name of the Children’s Room bear.
Children ages 5 and up are welcome to attend a screening of “Charlotte’s Web” (G) at the library Friday, June 29, 3:30 p.m. The 2006 film is the first in the library’s Friday Film Fest based on favorite children’s books. The summer series includes “The Sword in the Stone”, “Arthur and the Invisibles”, and “The Secret Garden”.
Take your little ones to Pajama Story Time at the library Tuesday, June 12, 7 p.m. They will enjoy picture book stories, songs and puppet plays to celebrate dads and grandpas. Children may wear pj’s and bring favorite blankets and stuffed animals if they wish.
Children in kindergarten through second grade are invited to the library to munch on brunch and listen to chapters from favorite books at A Book and a Bagel Saturday, June 9, 11 a.m. to noon.
What books are teens reading? Vampire stories, romance, sci-fi, and fantasy, to name a few varieties. The library encourages reading fans to talk about their favorite genres and trade reading suggestions Thursday, June 14, 3:30 p.m.

Hook up with the Rye Arts Center for a free arts evening designed just for teens June 15, 6 to 8 p.m. You will be able to pop into interactive demonstrations of cartooning, fashion illustration, digital photography, karaoke/vocal workshops and mural painting.
