Feeley’s Dominance Earns Him Lions Club Nod

If asked to sum up Ryan Feeley’s swimming career at Rye in one word, “prolific” might just do the trick.
Feeley was named Lions Club Athlete of the Month for March after winning the State Title in the 500-meter freestyle. His championship run of 4:29.82 broke the 14-year-old State record and earned him All-American status. He also swam fast enough in the 200-meter freestyle to be tabbed an All-American.
“I am very proud to be chosen by the Lions Club as Athlete of the Month and honored to be part of such a select group of athletes,” said Feeley.
The junior’s State Title run came little more than six months after a dominating showing at the Empire State Games here in Westchester, when Feeley cruised to six gold medals. Feeley has been with Badger Swimming since 1996, and is a team record holder in the 1,650-yard freestyle, and a M.I.T. pool record holder in the 200- and 500-yard freestyles.
Since entering Rye High School in the fall of 2005, Ryan has consistently made the Honor Roll. He’s also volunteered his spare time at the W.A.R.D. Summer Institute, teaching underprivileged children mathematics, reading and writing.
As prolific as Feeley’s career has been at Rye, the most exciting part is that it isn’t even over yet for the talented junior.
