In just his second 18-and-under American Junior Golf Association competition, 15-year-old Rye High School sophomore Mark Mumford shot a 2-under-par 70 to win the Medicus Preseason Junior at Tapatio Springs Sunday, April 8, in Boerne, TX.

The Garnets' season got off to an inauspicious start when lone senior, co-captain Hannah Simonson, missed the first game due to illness, and then junior outfielder Kelsey Hanley received a bloody lip from a fly ball she lost in the sun in the top of the first inning Tuesday, April 10, in Rye.

Rye Neck High School senior Jamie Holloman signed his letter of commitment April 11 to attend Georgetown University, where he will play football.
