Y Offers Freestyle Swim Clinic

Improve your swimming skills with World Masters Swimmer of the Year Karlyn Pipes-Neilsen and All-American Masters Swimmer Eric Neilsen at the YMCA Fabulous Freestyle Clinic. The clinic will be held at the Brookside Pool May 4, 6 to 10 p.m.

The four-hour training will include videotaping with suggestions for improvement, step-by-step freestyle stroke progression and gradual progression to a faster, more efficient stroke, training tips and recovery suggestions.

Karyln Pipes Neilsen was voted 2004 World Masters Swimmer of the Year by Swimming World Magazine and holds 48 FINA Masters World records and 96 US National records spanning three age groups.  Eric Neilsen has over 15 years experience coaching both swimmers and triathletes. The stroke that both Karlyn and Eric teach has been called a “wide entry, early catch” freestyle and is similar to the style used by top Australian and US Olympic swimmers.
