Rye Y Swim Teams Lap Up Big Wins

For the second consecutive year, The Rye YMCA Wave Ryeders placed first in the Westchester/Fairfield League Swim Championships held last month. The team, undefeated during the regular season, was awarded numerous first-place, second-place and third-place trophies. The highest Individual Point Leaders were Rachel Egan, first place, 10-and-under girls' division, Ariel Pariser, first place, 18-and-under girls' division, and Lena Krikorian, second place, 12-and-under girls' division. Lukas Repetti scored second place, boys' 10-and-under division.

The Wave Ryeders also returned home triumphant from the YMCA 2007 New York State Swimming Championships in Cortland, March 17 and 18. This year, for the first time, the Rye YMCA girls' team (8-and-under) placed 2nd in the championships. Fifty team members qualified for the State Championships, with seven individuals finishing in the top six at the Finals. The Wave Ryeders finished overall in 11th place out of 41 teams, with the girls' teams placing 8th overall.
