Rye Neck Senior Headed to Georgetown

Rye Neck High School senior Jamie Holloman signed his letter of commitment April 11 to attend Georgetown University, where he will play football.

“Education comes first and I loved Georgetown the moment I stepped foot on campus,” said the senior. “To be able to play football there is a dream come true.”

At the signing ceremony, Athletics Director Chris McCarthy and Principal Barbara Ferraro called the senior “a great leader” and “a great example for all our kids.” Holloman's Rye Neck football coach Nick Ianello is also very proud of his defensive end.

The student was recruited to play offensive tackle by Georgetown coach Jamie Micelli, himself a Rye Neck alumnus, Class of 1976. He played football with Ianello back when they were students.

Holloman, who starts training camp in August, will miss Rye Neck. “It's a close-knit community that immerses its students in so many programs that affect everything that goes on in your life,” he said.
