Another Big Award for Caroline Gray

One week after being selected to the Fairchester Athletics Association First Team for basketball, School of the Holy Child senior Caroline Gray was named a Basketball Coaches Association of New York Scholar Athlete. The award is given to high school seniors who exhibit exceptional academic performance.

Tied 1-1 with Westchester’s pre-eminent lacrosse team after a quarter of play, Rye could not have asked to be in a better position at home against Yorktown April 2.
The Garnets’ inspired effort didn’t hold up, though, as the Cornhuskers scored seven unanswered goals to spoil Rye’s season opener, 9-2.
Another Perfect Season for Resurrection Hoopsters

Kudos go to the Rye Resurrection basketball team for a second straight undefeated season. The team’s record is now 17-0 over the past two seasons.

One could make the argument that each of Rye Country Day’s spring teams is a contender for a championship in its respective sport. And, not unlike the Wildcat squads whose seasons are just getting underway, the argument would probably be a winning one.
Eggers Named Lions Club Athlete of the Month

Rye High School senior Brendan Eggers, co-captain of the Garnets’ swim team, was selected as Lions Club Athlete for the month of March. Eggers won the 2008 Coaches Award and played an integral role on Rye’s 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams. Both foursomes qualified for the State championships, where they finished 12th and 7th respectively.
Rye Y Swimmers Sweep Regionals At States
The Rye YMCA Wave Ryeders swept the Westchester-Fairfield League Swim Championships by over 200 points and brought home a first place trophy from the YMCA 2009 New York State Swim Championships held March 20-22.
