The following summarizes reports filed at Rye Police headquarters from 3/18 to 3/29. The information does not include final court or other actions.

3/18: Mutual aid given to Rye Brook P.D. in raid on “residence suspected of illicit activity”. All units cleared at 13:25 hours.

3/18: Rye resident discovered blue TREK bike and helmet at Disbrow Park. Recovered property report completed.

3/19: Rye resident reported hearing his dogs barking. Walking toward door, he discovered he’d been burgled of two boxes of comic books. Owner’s deposition taken.

3/20: Norwalk man reported side window of car broken into while parked in Car Park 5. Cell phone taken.

3/21: Three bicycles found in wooded section of Loudon Woods: purple TAFFY children’s bike; purple Mountain Lion 60 TREK bike with yellow bike lock; silver RAZOR scooter. Bicycles secured at Police HQ.

3/21: Entire report: “Truck vs. Mini Cooper at Purchase Street and Highland Road. No injuries.”

3/21: Wilson Drive resident returned home to find jewelry taken. Basement window was apparent entry point. Officer checked with neighbors: negative results. Statement taken.

3/21: At 23:35 hours, Briarcliff Manor driver of red Ferrari passed police officer at high rate of speed, swerving to avoid SUV, then failed to signal left turn onto Purchase Street. Pulled over, presented expired driver’s license and failed field sobriety test. Blood alcohol level: .13%. Arrested, processed, ROR’d to girlfriend for later court date.

3/22: Halsted Place resident reported trash thrown on several lawns past two Saturday nights. Statement taken.

3/22: Kirby Lane homeowner left wallet inside locked car in driveway overnight. In morning, discovered driver’s window smashed and wallet gone. Deposition taken.

3/22: Black Hummer stopped at Theodore Fremd Avenue and Elm Place for suspended registration. Harrison man presented suspended license for driving without insurance. Arrested; $100 cash bail.

3/22: Black iPod Nano and and coat with fur collar taken from parked Nissan Rogue on Manursing Avenue. Statement filed.

3/24: Oakland Beach Avenue man reported being called by ex-girlfriend who threatened to damage his car. Voicemail from cell phone vouchered as evidence. Complainant subsequently arrested on another charge.

3/24: During a seatbelt checkpoint on Midland Avenue and I-95, two operators were stopped. Pennsylvania man stated he had no license. Provided ID card from Guatemala. Computer check showed no registration or insurance, either. Stamford man stated he had no license; computer showed failure to answer previous summons in Rye. Arrested. Both cars impounded.

3/24: Dodge Caravan with Illinois plates seen making left turn through red light from far right lane of Boston Post Road onto Peck Avenue. Driver presented Japanese passport. Computer showed license suspended in 2006, vehicle unregistered. Bonus: license plates belonged to gray 2008 Hyundai, not white 2007 Caravan. Oops. Vehicle impounded, driver arrested, confiscated plates placed in safe area.

3/25: Greenhaven man reported items missing from home safe. Subsequently alleged wife was trying to steal personal belongings and had been acting in disturbing manner around their children. Statement taken.

3/25: Officers dispatched to City Hall at request of Assistant City Manager to assist in having the character ‘Mr. Floatie’ moved from center of audience viewing area of Council meeting. After discussion with lawyer, Mr. Floatie moved aside.

3/25: Sonn Drive resident reported seeing suspicious individual in dark green minivan with dark windows. White male, approximately 40, dark hair and eyes, talked to daughter and neighbor’s daughter, playing at corner of Sonn Drive and Franklin Avenue. Mother approached, driver left area. Statement taken.

3/26: Accident at Milton Road and Playland Parkway. No injuries reported.

3/27: Gray Toyota Tercel observed coasting to a stop on Playland Parkway missing driver’s side front tire. Officer observed what looked like “vomit and spit” on inside of driver’s door. Strong odor of alcohol emitted from vehicle. Bronx driver explained he had “hit something,” but everything was “fine.” Fumbled for license in back pocket though wallet was resting on front passenger seat. Stated he was en route to White Plains from the “boogie down” and had only consumed “some Jameson at home a while ago.”

Driver taken in Car 10 to Police HQ, filling vehicle with odor of alcohol. During sobriety test, was able to stand with foot six inches off the ground while hopping and swaying for count of “two one-thousand.” Driver repeatedly apologized for “breaking balls” but asserted, “You gotta have some fun.” Breathalyzer showed .19% BAC. Arrested, released to father and girlfriend. Nothing further on missing front tire.

3/27: Responding to noise complaint at Grace Church Street residence, officers observed high school-age youths running from party in several directions. Son of owner explained his father was away on business in China, his mother was setting up their new residence in South America, and he was throwing his own goodbye party, which “has obviously gotten out of hand.” Referred to youth detective.

3/28: Rye merchant scammed out of $220 by two men in mid-to-late 20s, who claimed to have brand-new computer in box. After payment, box contained only newspaper. Suspects left in direction of Port Chester.

3/29: Dearborn Avenue resident reported being bitten on right arm at 07:30 hours by large brown Labrador mix near Rye Beach Avenue gate. Dog owner reported to be black male, approximately six feet tall, wearing light-colored casual clothing. Another black Labrador was also with man, neither dog on leash. Victim demanded enforcement of leash laws in Rye Town Park. Extra patrol card filled out.
