The Port Chester Carver Center’s spring benefit will be held Saturday, April 18, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the beautiful parish hall at the First Presbyterian Church at One West Putnam Avenue in Greenwich. As part of the church’s mission, it hosts events for nonprofit organizations in its newly refurbished space. This year’s theme is: Carver Center: The Heart & Soul of the Community.
Sonora Restaurant in Port Chester will cater the party. The benefit will feature a raffle with several vacation houses, beautiful jewelry, fitness packages and many other wonderful prizes donated by area merchants and residents. Program tables and a journal will also be highlighted.
Co-chairing the benefit this year are Holly Kennedy and Jennifer Sfreddo of Rye, along with a dedicated committee. Christine Gerli of Greenwich and Katherine Moore of Rye are honorary co-chairs.
Ticket prices start at $85 per person. If you would like to attend the benefit, make a donation or volunteer your time, contact Nancy Haneman, Development Director, at 939-4464; nhaneman@carvercenter.org. Checks may be made payable to Port Chester Carver Center Benefit at 400 Westchester Avenue, Port Chester, NY 10573.
Wags & Whiskers will host its annual fundraising dinner to benefit nonprofit animal rescue groups in Westchester County Friday, April 24, 7 p.m. at Coveleigh Club. The evening’s honoree is Dr. Michael Woltz, V.M.D., Central Animal Hospital.
The organization’s mission is to find loving permanent homes for abandoned, stray, and abused companion animals. Every year the rescue groups save hundreds of animal lives. Donations are used to pay the soaring veterinary bills of the neglected felines and canines, as well as for food and other necessary supplies. Their ultimate goal is to end the euthanizing of all adoptable pets.
Tickets are $75 per person. All proceeds will directly benefit homeless animals through the Pet Adoption League and Cat Assistance. For further information, call 937-7877 or email wagsandwhiskersevent@-yahoo.com.
