Rye Y Swimmers Sweep Regionals At States

The Rye YMCA Wave Ryeders swept the Westchester-Fairfield League Swim Championships by over 200 points and brought home a first place trophy from the YMCA 2009 New York State Swim Championships held March 20-22. Undefeated in the regular season, the Wave Ryeders won the regional Westchester-Fairfield League Swim Championships for the 4th consecutive year. The team won eight out of 16 relays. Congratulations to Double 1st place winners Dana Egan, Lena Krikorian and Bridget McGowen, and Single 1st place winners Maggie Scala, Anina Lund, Isabelle Daly, Robby Giller and Andy Vermes.

At the YMCA State Championships in Buffalo, members of the Wave Ryeder Boys 8-and-under division were crowned the 2009 New York State YMCA champions. The champions are Nicolas Guitierrez, Andy Vermes, Luca Quinones, Tommy Foley and Thomas Hartshorn. There were seven triple 1st place finalists: Rachel Egan, Lena Krikorian, Molly Bugniazet, Tommy Foley, Thomas Mackey, Anina Lund and Nicholas Gutierrez and three double 1st place finalists: Robby Giller, Maggie Scala and Thomas Hartshon.
