Dylan Bronson, a seventh grader at Rye Country Day School, proved himself a true chess master at the 2009 Westchester County Scholastic Chess Championship. The competition in White Plains, attracted more than 200 participants from 50 different schools. Dylan placed 4th in his division. Dylan's older brother, Nicholas Bronson, took 4th place in the high school division, and the RCDS high school team placed 2nd.

Julia Sayles, a Rye Country Day School junior, was one of four winners in the annual Hudson Valley Music Club's Student Awards Competition. Julia plays the French horn. On Monday, April 27, she and the other winners will present a concert featuring works by Bach, Mozart, Schubert, Chopin, Saint-Saens and Hindesmith at the Dobbs Ferry Women's Club at 1 p.m.
