Save the Date
A sure sign of spring is The Little Garden Club of Rye's annual Daffodil Show, April 28, 2 to 3:30 p.m., at The Osborn Retirement Community. "Through the Lens," a photography show with two classes, “The Garden at a Glance” and “Zoomed-in”, will be featured at the same time. Both are open to the public. The event is free of charge.
The Rye Derby and the “Cone Man” Return

Derby Day begins at dawn for the “Cone Man,” just as it has for the past 21 years. Responsible for laying out the bright orange cones marking the route of the Rye YMCA’s annual Derby race, Cone Man takes his responsibility seriously.
Time to Rock
Rock Island Sound students will perform with a real band, in front of a live audience, on a real stage, including a professional PA system and lights Sunday, April 19, 5 p.m. at Rack ‘N’ Roll, 268 Atlantic Street in Stamford. Students will experience first hand the thrill of a live performance! Rock Island Sound Rejects will also perform a few numbers.
For a Good Cause
The Port Chester Carver Center’s spring benefit will be held Saturday, April 18, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the beautiful parish hall at the First Presbyterian Church at One West Putnam Avenue in Greenwich. As part of the church’s mission, it hosts events for nonprofit organizations in its newly refurbished space. This year’s theme is: Carver Center: The Heart & Soul of the Community.
Arts for All
The Maia String Quartet will perform the final concert of the Westchester Chamber Music Society's 2008-2009 season, Sunday, April 19, at 8 p.m. at Congregation Emanu-El of Westchester. On the program are quartets by Beethoven, Prokofiev, and Brahms. The Maia String Quartet is in residence at the University of Iowa and has been praised for its "pinpoint precision and elegance".
