Enjoy the wonders of nature at Rye Nature Center’s April Vacation Camp. See animals awaken from their winter slumber and make lots of discoveries among the center’s 47 acres of ponds, fields and forest.

Kids’ Corner
Join the hunt, the Carole D. Kirby Memorial Easter Egg Hunt, Saturday, March 15, at Rye Recreation. Line up begins at 10:30 a.m., Hunt at 11 a.m. The event is for ages 2 through grade 5. The rain date is March 22.

Teens Wanted
Rye Recreation has openings for junior counselors at its summer camps. To be eligible, you must be at least entering ninth grade in the fall. All applicants must be available to work the entire six-week camp season (July 6-August 14) and attend orientation sessions June 16 and 30 and July 1.

Arts for All

The Rye Arts Center will present its eighth annual “Student Studio: Emerging High School Talent” March 19-31. The exhibit celebrates the creative impulses and artistic commitment of high school-aged artists. Each of the students from 17 Westchester and Fairfield County high schools will exhibit one work in the gallery. All will be honored at the opening reception March 19 from 6-7:30 p.m.

Talks, Workshops and Just for Fun
Patrick Ahern, who was born in County Limerick nearly 80 years ago, will recount incidents and people from his early years at a talk at the library March 15 at 2 p.m. His humorous and heart-warming stories take listeners back to the Ireland of thatched cottages, peat fires and time spent with family and friends in an unhurried, pre-television era.

Family Matters
The Rye YMCA hosts its popular Family Gym, Swim & Dinner Friday, March 20, from 5:30 to 8 pm. A great evening for the family! Go swimming, play games in the gym and join everyone for a pizza party. The free event is open to Family members only. Register now, as space is limited. Call 967-6363.
