Michael Kamer, 11, of the Rye Rangers Pee Wee team made a diving save at the Stamford Youth Hockey Association Holiday Tournament in Stamford December 20. It was the Rangers vs. Greater Bridgeport in the Championship game.

Banged-Up Garnets Keep Fighting

An injury-riddled Rye girls’ basketball team persevered January 8 at home against Ardsley, overcoming various dents and dings to win, 47-43.

Off to a Splashy Start
The Rye YMCA Wave Ryeders began the season with a win against Yonkers Rec November 21. The 245-171 score reflects several Wave Ryeder first-place finishes, as well as double wins from Christopher Scalia, Anina Lund and Celia Palmer.

Moving from side to side with long, fluid strides, Rye High School sophomore Karim Amir met the small, rubber ball each time with a lightning-quick flick of the wrist. His compact swings allowed him to crank up the velocity in a rapid march towards a 3-0 victory against his Darien High School opponent.

Feeley Captures a Gold Across the World

Rye senior Ryan Feeley earned a gold medal in the men’s 10K open water event at the 2009 Junior Pan Pac Meet January 11 in Guam. The prolific swimmer finished in 1:53:37.65 to win the event, touching out an Australian competitor by .55 seconds to take first place.
