Ever wonder how you navigated before GPS? Learn how to use a compass and the landscape to guide you at an “Orient Yourself” program led by Chris Mignone at the Marshlands Conservancy Saturday, January 17, at 10 a.m. Compasses will be provided, but you can bring your own.

The Rye YMCA and Rye Recreation are jointly offering ski/snowboarding trips to Windham and Butternut Mountains in the coming weeks. Why drive to the slopes when you can relax on a deluxe motor coach? The Windham trip is set for January 25, the Butternut trip February 8. Call Rye Rec at 967-2535 or log on to www.ryeymca.org. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Bus departs from the Y at 7 a.m. and returns at approximately 7 p.m.
The cost of the Windham trip is $100 for Rye residents and Y members, $125 non-residents; the Butternut trip is $90 for residents and members. $115 non-residents.
Fees include bus ride and lift ticket.
